Illuminated Keys
The illumination options on the Saitek Eclipse 2 are the best we have seen in any gaming keyboard. The laser etched keys are bright and distinct, allowing you to choose between three different colors and control their brightness with a simple switch. The only complaint we have is that the color always reverts back to blue after a reboot, which can get a little annoying if you prefer one of the other two colors.
Hardwearing Hardware
Straight out of the packaging the Saitek Eclipse 2 feels, the first thing we noticed was the weighted base that keeps it firmly grounded on your desktop. The keys also feel hardwearing too, like the IBM keyboards of old but with none of the loud clacking noise when you hit the keys. Hitting the keys feels good; they have a good spring to them and the sturdiness of the keyboard overall makes you confident you can really hammer them (if you get a bit too excited in-game).
Adjustability
One of the major complaints we have about other gaming keyboards is the inability to increase or decrease the incline angle. This model allows a good variety of adjustments and comes with Robert to defeat which ensures the keyboard feels secure and firmly planted on your desktop.
Media Control
The Saitek Eclipse 2 features media control through track selection bottoms and a handily placed a volume dial. However, it does not come with any pre-programmable extra keys that are popular on other gaming keyboard models. This gives fewer options to customize your keyboard with features such as in game macros, but does make it a lot more compact.
